1. Turn the printer Off (O) and disconnect the AC power cord.
2. Open the media door and remove media and ribbon from the printer.
3. Refer to Figure 4-15. Remove the electronic cover by loosening and removing the
two screws that secure the cover to the printer.
4. Refer to Figure 4-40. Use a hex key to loosen the two set screws on the ribbon take-
up collar that secure the collar to the shaft. Slide the collar, plastic thrust washer,
gear clutch assembly and washers off the shaft. Remove the ribbon take-up
assembly and washer.

1. Slide the ribbon take-up assembly and washer through the bearings on the printer.
Place the washers, gear clutch assembly, plastic thrust washer and collar onto the
end of the ribbon take-up assembly shaft. Make sure the gear clutch assembly gear
meshes with the other compound gear.
2. Place a 0.020 inch feeler gauge between the thrust washer and the collar. Push in on
the other side of the ribbon take-up assembly and tighten the two screws on the
collar to secure the ribbon take-up assembly. Make sure the ribbon take-up assembly
turns freely.
3. Replace the electronics cover.
4. Reinstall media and ribbon into the printer and close the media door.
5. Reconnect power cord to the printer and restore power.
6. Turn the printer On (l) and print a configuration label using the CANCEL Key Self
Test.
Caution • This installation must be performed by a qualified service technician.
